NYC album product picks

 Back in May I want to New York City with my Mother-in law, sister-in law and my mom. We had the best trip and NYC will always have a special place in our hearts! I did a little post about it HERE. I knew the whole time that I would make a whole album (maybe not WHOLE album) to document our fun trip. So here are most of the products that I have set aside to use.

Pretty much all my embellishment, photos, and letter stickers are kept in this box from Ikea (its an old one). Im really liking that everything that I would need is here and I dont have to go look for something that would work. Let take a closer look at whats inside. 

Here are some of the letter stickers I have pulled out for this collection. I must admit I have gone back to my stash and used other ones. But thats something I let myself do because I knew not all these would work for all the layouts and I would eventually run out of letters. 

This is what I call the "sticker" embellishments  its a mix of different company's and collections but they work well with the paper I have picked. It seems like a lot, but I noticed that I don't really use that many stickers, so I'm really hopping to make a dent in my stash and push myself to use what I have. 

This is what I call the "small" embellishments. Mostly brads and stamps, and cameras! I love the way Shimell.com has a repeating "theme" going through her travel album, and thats craft cardstock and cameras, even though all the papers are different. My papers are pretty much the same through out the album but I just LOVE all the camera motif out there right now and I wanted to take advantage and add it to my NYC album too. 

This is the washi Tape I'm hoping to add in my pages. I too many that i don't use and would love to add more of it in my pages. And Polaroid frames and some old Amy Tangerine product im hoping to use up.  

These are the large chip board and sticker sheets that came with the papers I'm using. I love everything about them! 

Along with the paper these I did not put in the Ikea-box-of-goodness I was worried that the cut-aparts would get lost or forgotten with the other fun embellishments I had pulled out so it has its own little tray.

Last but not least, the paper! The main paper I'm working with is Crate paper "story teller" collection. Then I added Simple stores called Urban traveler, and also pulled out an older collection by Basic grey but don't remember the name. 

And all that's left is my Photos and memorabilia, these live in the Ikea box.

New Year

Its a new Year and a "new" beginning! I'm really excited to see what God has in store for me and my family this year! I know there will be some changes, good and bad, but God is in control and that gives me great peace and joy. I don't like making New Years Resolutions, because I break them or give up on them. But I do want to start/ challenge my self with something new [and try super super hard to fallow through with it] this new 2013 Year.

We all seen and heard about Project Life, and I love the idea behind it, but to try to make a 2-page layout EVER week seems too much for me, some weeks I cant even scrapbook one Layout! Plus I'm a stay-at-home-mom with a One year old, and that means some days are super super boring and dull. Boring as in, we clean, cook, and play, and that happens A lot during a slow week. My project life will look more like what I cleaned-and-cooked all week, not something I want to document each week and want look back at. So I've decided I want to try project life but on a smaller scale, I want to document Monthly. I'm thinking about doing 2 2-page layouts (the one with 4, 4x6 and 4, 3x4) that way I'll have 16 4x6 and same with 3x4, total of 34 pockets. That's more then enough room for photos and journaling. I haven't started yet so things may change down to just a 2-page layout. Either way I'm super excited to get my hands on supplies and get started!

So that was my first challenge to my self. The second is to take more photos. I also really want to challenge me self to us my Nikon camera instead of just my phone camera which is pretty crappy anyways. Plus if I'm starting project life that means I need photos to document with, so I'm taking up the 365 challenge I started awhile back but dropped it. I think I'll still post photos on my blog but do it weekly instead of daily.

I'm still alive!

Sorry I haven't really been around to post much. kinda took a little break but I am back with some great posts that will be coming soon! Can't wait to show you what I've been working on this last few weeks! Lately I've been inspired by Shimelle.com (aren't I always) and how she shows the products she will be using in her videos. I thought it would be fun to do something similar on my blog posts. So I will be showing you the products I used on a layout, or whats left of the papers I was using to make a project. Because sometime I'm just not sure where my layout or project will  take me, and what pretty things I might find after I've started my page. Here is a peek at what I've been working on lately! My creative process

Just thought I'd a quick post on what I'm planning to work on for the next few days! I've been really wanting to make a mini album for a while, the only thing that was stopping me is; that I feel like they take way too much time. Lately I've been really looking in to mini books and found some awesome inspiration! My first inspiration was by Shimelle.com. She made a layout of 2011 in review. That's what I'm planning to make, a mini book or "2011 in review". Next I found a new blog by Swissgirldesigns.com. She has really unique and simple way of making mini albums. Instead of buy a pre-made one, I'm planning to put one together my self, and adding smaller pages and Envelopes that will work for me. And my last inspiration was Dear Lizzy. She  had made a"this year: mini book". I just love how simple and color it is at the same time! So to get started, and not get too distracted by other pretty albums, I've preplanned it [kind of]. in my planning notebook I printed pictures that really inspired me to make my own album, and to keep it simple, fun and hopefully easy.

I'm so excited to get started on this mini book! wish me luck and I'm off to picking/ printing photos, and picking pretty paper to work with!

Need something New

I've been thinking about my blog lately, and I've decided to make some [good] changes. I thought about how this blog is not 'me', not really. Or at least not what I want it to be. so I'm gonna try something new for this month of September (and yes its already into Sept, but better late then never). I have a cook book from Ikea called 'A Recipe a Day. 365 Recipes.' I love food, and i need to cook more at home so i thought it would be fun to go through the cook book by months. I counted out about 13-15 main dishes, 7-10 side dishes and 6-8 sweets for each month. and for me that mean to go through the whole book I'll have to cook at least 3-4 times a week. I can/should do that. I'll be posting what I've cooked and how it was. I hate to say it but I got the idea from Julie and Julia. September will be my trial run.

Out of this I'm hoping to have more of a consistency. Aside from the food I gonna try to post/ made more card or scrapbook layouts and made just some other random inspiration.

so basically i dont know why i made a blog, but i thought it would be fun... maybe not. im just gonna post my stuff on here. cards i make, and things i like. maybe some thoughts. its not like some ones gonna read this. are they? could be fun.
